Moonrunners - Full Enough
QYOEL.jpg
WAKR014 $5.00

Wild Animal Kingdom 014 features Oly, WA duo Moonrunners' debut full length, Full Enough. If you've ever seen 'em live you know that these little dudes are the real deal. They just graduated high school and all they got on their minds is dissin' cops, cruisin down broadway on their boards, and playing loud fast music. Run of 50. International orders here.

Interview/Moonrunners

Recently, and I'm still amazed that someone wanted to interview me, I was asked a few questions about Wild Animal Kingdom and, more specifically, Baseball: America's Game Vol.1. Erik over at Beach On The Moon based in Minneapolis, MN did the honors. Thanks Erik!

Another piece of exciting news, is our latest release! Moonrunners are an Olympia, WA duo, with a mean age of 19.37, mean of course being average - they're really nice guys! I'm really lucky to be able to put out Jake and Danny's debut full length, aptly titled Full Enough. Pretend for a moment you had just graduated from high school, and living in a college town with a pretty exciting music scene you had already played and endeared yourself to some more senior musicians in the area, but at the same time you still liked to do stuff like drink a lot of cokes, make fun of cops and skateboard ALL THE TIME. Moonrunners are like 2010's answer to 1980's hardcore, without all the obnoxiousness and posturing and with the same sort of, 'we'd rather skate than go on dates' attitude that made the Faction such an awesome band growing up.

Baseball: America's Game/DIY Holiday Art Fair

Just out is WAKR's newest series highlighting baseball's most glorious archived audio: Baseball: America's Game. Each volume of this series will bring to light famous moments of our nation's pastime in short runs of 10 tapes. Order now!

Also, if you are in the Pacific Northwest, this Saturday Wild Animal Kingdom will have a vendor table at the DIY Holiday Fair, featuring such prominent indie labels as: Lost Sound Tapes, Bicycle Records, Sub Pop and Light In The Attic. The event takes place in Seattle, WA at the Vera Project from 11-5. Admission is a scant $2.00 donation to help the Vera and Hollow Earth Radio stay awesome. Get your holiday shopping done right, by supporting local zine and print makers, record labels and other great PNW artists.

In other news, I will be shipping all backorders that have been piling up within the next two days. All Liam tapes, MM-TC Issues and others will finally be arriving well past the date they should have arrived. I am really sorry to all of you customers who have been waiting, very patiently I might add, please understand that I had no idea this label would receive the amount of orders is has in the last couple of months. I'm learning how to stay organized as I go, while still managing to be involved in a serious relationship, work 35-40 hours a week and be a member of the band Pill Wonder. Again, I am really, really, really sorry I have been such a terrible indie-label CEO in the last couple of weeks.

Buy the Alex Bleeker and the Freaks LP.
Buy the Real Estate Live record.
Shop at Trader Joes.
Be my friend.
Thank you.
I am sorry.

Upon Returning
Hello folks. I have just returned from the Big Apple, as we refer to NYC as, out here in grizzled, ragamuffin land. It was a great time. I saw a lot of amazing shows at CMJ, and all for free I might add. Male Bonding, Real Estate, Frat Dad, Obits, Air Waves all kicked major ass! I also got to meet, and reacquaint with a bunch of great people! Thanks and nice to meet you/see you again: Ari, Brody, Martin and Heather, Sam, Liam, Big Troubles, James, McGregor and Eugenia, Matt, Bleeker, Ian, Ray, Elise and big ups to the others who setup shows for us, and/or saw us (Pill Wonder/Sunn Dagger) play.

Regarding Wild Animal Kingdom, I spoke with Liam (the Younger) while in Brooklyn and he asked me to hold off just a little bit longer to release(/send the tapes to those of you who have already bought them, thanks!) until he gets the CD artwork figured out. So, 'Revel Hidden Worlds' will be out as soon as I get the green light from Liam, which should be very soon.
60 Watt Kid's We Come From The Bright Side is officially released! Thanks to those of you who pre-ordered. If you would like to pick up a limited edition tape version of this great work, click on the above picture to buy.

In other news, Wild Animal Kingdom will be heading to SXSW! That means fun. Also, there is one more Pill Wonder Jungle/Surf tape left before the album drops on vinyl via our brothers in arms. Thank you all! Monthly Mix-Tape Club is still accepting subscribers....

Upcoming 60 Watt Kid and Liam The Younger full lengths!
LTY-RHW.jpg

Hello everyone out there in internweb land. I would like to thank you, from four continents I might add, for showing so much interest in our (and I can say our because Wil is my new intern) small time tape label. I mailed out my largest order ever when I went to the post office on Sep. 30th to send MM-TC Issue#2. Thanks to all who have subscribed. If you would still like to subscribe for a year and would prefer me to send you the first two back issues with the upcoming Issue#3, buy a 12 Month Subscription and let me know via e-mail that you would prefer the back issues instead of your subscription starting in November and running until November of 2010. Also, soon we will be selling back issues of MM-TC on this website for $2.50, a steep one dollar increase.

And now for the news you've all been waiting for...!!!....!!! On October 20th we, members of this wild kingdom will put out musix from our friends, who are also members of the same uber-wild kingdom. First hot of the dubber will be 60 Watt Kid's new full length, We Come From The Bright Side released side by side with Liam The Younger's new full length Revel Hidden Worlds on 10/20. That should be an exciting day for all of us! If you would like to pre-order 60 Watt Kid's new masterwork click here. 60 Watt Kid's tape will ship on or before October 20th. I am really excited to be involved with both of these talented musical outfits!

New Releases/The Success of MM-TC and CMJ

brazilcouldbeyourlife.jpg
Hello folks Dana Jewell here, just wanted to give you the heads up. Brasil Could Be Your Life, a ten song compilation curated by Lilian De Munno our sister to the south, is now available to be purchased. The eclectic collection is very interesting and exciting to be a part of. The tape is now available in our store section, or you can click HERE and add it to your cart that way. You can also view the bands, perhaps you've heard of some - my favorite name is Superbug - on the tracklist page of our website.
Also coming soon is the new record by Bay Area/LA psych-rockers 60 Watt Kid. Entitled We Come From The Bright Side, the tape will be available on October 21st.

In other news, Monthly Mix-Tape Club is a complete and utter..... SUCCESS! Thanks to all of you who have subscribed from all over the world. Believe me, October's issue is something special. Curated by Alex, CEO of the tape label Leftist Nautical Techniques, Issue #2 is bounds better than Issue #1, whoever curated that bullshit. If you would like to subscribe but you're feeling your OCD will push you away from buying a 12 month subscription a month late, or won't let you click the "1 Month Subscription" button 11 times, good news! There is an "11 Month Subscription" option available in the store. Or right HERE.

The news continues! All 7 members of Pill Wonder will be heading to New York around this time next month to participate in CMJ. We will be playing the ChocolateBobka Showcase (thanks McGregor!) on Friday Oct. 23 as well as at the second Underwater People's Showcase (thanks Ari, Brodylish, Sawyer, Mimoun etc. !) on Saturday Oct. 24th. Also, 3/7 of Pill Wonder, myself included, are part of the band Sunn Dagger, and depending on if we don't break up by then... we will be playing as well on Saturday.
